But being able to sync up just one portion of a duet at a time was useful.Īny other things that one program is better than the other for? If there are other programs I should look into? And any other insights would be greatly appreciated for this newbie to Karaoke Software. With Karaoke Builder, it expects me to sync both singers at the same time, which proved hard to do, when I was dealing with a song in which there are concurrent different lyrics by both singers. And every once in a while, you find yourself asking: can I run windows applications on Linux?.Īnswer to that question is yes. For another problem-printing to a PDF file in Word-the support was much more helpful, providing a clear solution (use the CUPS-PDF driver and print to PDF) in the same time period. As you’re here, I’m going to assume that you’re a Linux user. For one problem-running the unsupported version of Adobe Photoshop CS3 for Windows-tech support responded in three hours and provided a concise answer: the application is not supported at all. CodeWeavers says it is working on more alerts for the next release.ĬodeWeavers does offer exceptional e-mail- and telephone-based tech support. A simple alert that CS3 apps will definitely not work, or showing the related “gold” and “silver” rankings, would have helped immensely. It never did, so I had to quit CrossOver and, eventually, had to reboot entirely. During the installation, CrossOver merely acted as if it were waiting for the installation to complete. For example, I tried to install Adobe Photoshop CS3 before checking the support forums. This would save me a trip to the Web site. I would strongly prefer that CrossOver maintain a database of supported commercial software and, when I attempt an install, present an alert box with information about whether the program will work. It also provides some Wine testing scripts. (Visio 2003 might work, while Quickbooks likely won’t.) CodeWeavers oversees the forums for user advocates who test Windows programs, but does not provide a standard testing methodology or distinguish test results by hardware specifications. For example, you can find out if Quicken 2008 runs well (e.g., gold), has some minor or major issues (e.g., silver or bronze), or will not run at all (e.g., “Not known to work”). Codeweavers says it is currently tweaking Wine for full Office 2007 compatibility and acknowledges that CrossOver support for Office 2007 is still a bit rough around the edges.įor officially unsupported apps, Codeweavers hosts a forum where users can report their experiences in testing software and award color-coded badges to indicate the program’s level of support. However, I did run Outlook 2007 for long periods-marking incoming e-mails with urgency flags, viewing a task list, and setting up my day-to-day schedule-without problems. Both Excel and Outlook crashed a few times on my MacBook Pro. However, many features-the clip organizer, charts, and mail merges, for example-did not work. In tests, Word 2007 worked just fine for typing up documents. With CrossOver Mac Professional, you can run Windows apps, but without ever touching an actual Windows operating system disc. So if Mac users can install CrossOver, they can run Office 2007 in a matter of minutes. Some companies have a standard desktop that requires everyone to run the approved Office version (likely for Windows). The latest 7.0.2 version adds support for Microsoft Office 2007-compelling as long as you’re not already using Office 2008 for the Mac, released in January. ![]() In daily use for fully supported apps, CrossOver worked like a charm: it rarely got in the way of running Windows software and it’s easy to use when you know the program is fully supported. When you print, CrossOver uses your Mac print driver. CrossOver also adds newly installed programs to the Mac Applications folder, and you can launch them from the Dock. The installation takes place using the Windows API. For example, if you insert the installation disc for Adobe Photoshop CS2, CrossOver launches automatically and prompts you to install it. This is a little confusing-I would prefer one app that ran both applications and games in a Pro version instead of having two icons on my Dock.įor supported apps, installation works great. ![]() The Standard version ($40) does not support games. The Pro version of CrossOver ($70) we used for testing includes two distinct versions of the program, one for productivity and one for games. For productivity tools, CrossOver fully supports Microsoft Office 2000 apps, and also supports more recent software-including Office 2003, Quicken, and Lotus Notes-but with known bugs. For example, Crysis seemed like it would install, but did not. Unfortunately, a vast majority of the latest PC games, such as Crysis and Call of Duty 4-a major reason you might want to buy CrossOver-are not fully supported yet. CrossOver supports several games, including Half-Life 2: Episode 2 and Counter-Strike, which both ran like they were on their native platform and without any major glitches. Solar time is the formula used to set civil time via UTC.Ī time offset is the amount of time added to or subtracted from UTC. There are two ways of establishing time on planet Earth - the atomic clock and solar time.Ītomics clocks are complex timekeeping mechanisms run by national governmental agencies and used on specific occasions, technologies, and systems. That is why countries located immediately west of the IDL - Tonga, Samoa, and Kiribati - are the first to celebrate the New Year. IDL is another imaginary line that passes through the middle of the Pacific Ocean and determines where you cross from one day to the next. Nevertheless, many people still use GMT as the time standard for all countries worldwide - for example, GMT+12:00 for New Zealand.īut there's also another important formalism - the International Date Line (IDL). UTC is precisely the same imaginary line defined by GMT at the Prime Meridian, located in the Royal Observatory in Greenwich. It replaced the Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) in the late 1960s, even though GMT remains today as a regional time zone at UTC+00:00. The official time standard regulating the world's time and clocks is called Coordinated Universal Time (UTC). The Differences Between GMT, UTC, and IDL Take a look at the official world time zone map. So, we all end up getting 24 standard time zones and 14 additional exceptions.Īs a result, local time always depends on what time zone you're in at a given moment.Īs stated above, all nations have specific interests, so the time zone map is not linear as it should be in theory. With the rotation of the Earth, from east to west, each meridian represents one given hour. They're technically named meridians, i.e., imaginary lines that run vertically from the North Pole to the South Pole, each 15 degrees apart. However, in a world with borders, political, geographical, social interests, and lobbies, the officially established time zones make the planet look like a complicated geometrical drawing of longitudinal lines. Ideally, the planet would be divided between 24 identical time zones, each representing one hour of the day. When you fly between Los Angeles and New York, you must add three hours to your clock upon arriving at your destination.Īnd while someone is waking and getting ready for another working day under sunny skies, another is heading off to bed under the moonlight. As a result, time is always different in various places on the planet. Welcome to the complex world of time zones. What time is it? So, a validator must attract and keep the delegator’s vote by preventing slashing events and distributing enough fees to make staking attractive. ![]() A gain or loss of stake is generally what the BSC uses as a measurement of trust. In theory, if a validator is too greedy and does not distribute enough fees, they would be voted out based on the loss of staking value. When chosen, the stake is locked for 7 days. Therefore, validators must attract delegators to choose to stake their BNB with them.įees are issued to validators who in turn give a percentage to the delegators. This happens because validators are rotated and the system that determines the rotation is driven by the delegators who vote with their BNB coin allocation. With the BSC’s Proof of Staked Authority (PoSA) system, validators and block producers have an equal opportunity to earn fees. And so it is that adventurers, known as Gungeoneers, flock to the Gungeon, seeking to right the wrongs of their pasts. Within the Gungeon, say these legends, lies a weapon of unimaginable power: a gun that can kill the past. This bullet formed the Gungeon, a sprawling, shape-shifting fortress protected by the Cult of the Gundead. There is a legend told throughout the galaxy: that many years ago, on the planet Gunymede, a massive bullet fell from space and embedded itself in the earth. The secret rooms are definitely one of the only weak parts of the game's design I would point to.Enter the Gungeon is a Bullet Hell Run-and-Gun Roguelike developed by Dodge Roll Games and published by Devolver Digital. You're not stupid, the secret rooms are just way too ridiculous to bother looking for, compared to the Binding of Isaac where they were biased to be surrounded by 3 or 4 normal rooms. Also if you buy the map, it will show you the hidden rooms just on that one floor you're currently on. There's a "brick of cash" item that basically gives you a little buddy who will just point out hidden walls for you. They're not amazing, and it's actually fairly tedious to look for them, so I don't bother. Sometimes it's just like, 10 casings to spend at a shop. Occasionally it will be an unlocked chest or something. Honestly, a lot of the time, at least on early floors, the secret room will be like, "here's a single key" or "here's a full heart (not a heart container, just a full heart)". You then need to use a blank near the wall to actually clear it and open it. Note that your starter gun with infinite bullets will never crack a wall, and also note that bullet themselves can only crack the wall. There are random secret rooms they look like ordinary walls, but if bullets from your gun, or shot from enemy projectiles, hit the "ordinary" wall enough, cracks will appear. ![]() There are fixed secret rooms, like the aforementioned fireplace which always reveals a unique hidden room. |
